Your US tax dollars at work…

So apparently the US Department of State is sponsoring a US University Fair over here in Salmiya.  The fair is actually tonight between 6PM and 9PM and for more info you can email kuwait@amideast.org.  Now, I went to a service academy – The Academy (despite what my misguided west pointer friend may think) – so I’m a bit of a school snob.  I mention that before I go on to say that the reason I’m bringing up this little fair at all is because of the schools who will be attending.  Apparently the bedrock of American higher education is heading over to Kuwait for this fair.  Some of the headliners include Everett Community College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Sylvan Learning Centers, Princeton Review-Score Plus, and my personal favorite – Yasar University.  To be fair there are several other schools who historically cater to arabs – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, University of Michigan, Flint, Ohio State University.  Now I can’t get into my embassy without making an appointment at least 48 hours in advance but the good ole DOS is out there making sure that all the locals that want to can find out how to get into Embry-Riddle.  Where is CNN when you need them?
