Poetry with Wes Magee

Wes Magee is a Scottish born poet who has published a half dozen collections for adults and hundreds of books for children.  TES does make an effort to have authors visit at least once a year and this week Mr. Magee stopped by sunny Kuwait and stuck his head in over at The English School.  Usually there’s a meet and greet and the kids get the opportunity to purchase the author’s latest work and there might be a little group read.  However, this time a small number of students were chosen to participate in a workshop with the poet/author and actually got to do a bit of writing under his guidance.  Sydney was chosen from her class and came home telling us about it as if it was something that everyone gets to do every other week.  After seeing how impressed we were I think it sunk in a bit and she’s been pretty proud of herself this evening too!  Anyways, we didn’t get any pictures of the actual event as it was nearly unadvertised (basically we were just told to send in a few KD in case Sydney wanted to purchase the book) but we do have some shots of the work in progress.  Enjoy.

  1. Enjoyed the report, & the photos. Good stuff! I had a lovely day at TES – the writing workshop was top-notch! I also did 4 presentations for large audiences in the theatre. Busy day, hot day, top day! Best wishes to all the Godwins (& all at TES)…… Wes (Magee)
