Old School Kuwait

A friend of mine has a stash of 40-50 year old National Geographic magazines.  She’s been going through them and scanning some of the smaller stories.  While doing so she came across an article from May 1969 about Kuwait.  It is really an interesting read.  It talks about night clubs and palaces which no longer exist.  It goes to praise Kuwait’s social programs which in hindsight (and my humble opinion) seem to have grown a decade or two of locals who’s strongest trait seems to be their sense of entitlement but hey – it’s their country.  If you live here now there are some great pictures that show how different it was not so long ago.  If you click the image below you can download a 6MB pdf that has the whole story in it.  Enjoy!
