The TES swim team held try-outs this week for their Tridents team. This is the year 3 to 8 team (7/8 to 12/13 year olds) that actually competes against other schools occasionally. For the last three years Sydney has been on the Nemos team and this year will hopefully be moving up to the Tridents. The try-out list was pretty full – nearly 150 people are trying out for two squads of -we think- 30 swimmers each. Traditionally the A squad has been for the older and stronger swimmers but we’re all confident that Sydney will at least make the B squad. She signed up for the first day of try-outs so she actually knocked hers out before the Eid break but there are still several more days of try-outs so we won’t know the outcome for probably a couple of weeks. They are graded for speed and form so while Syd’s not the fastest in the water her form certainly is up at the top of the group so we think she did very well. It had been quite a while since she really had to swim competitively so she was pretty drained afterwards but still did very well. Like I said in the beginning – Tridents here we come!
