Martinis & Mistletoe 2013

Every year on Christmas Eve we have a little open house at our place.  It started out as a small gathering almost ten years ago but this year it’s a full blown shin dig!  Our good friend Bill Robinson called his folks at Ruby Tuesday’s in Kuwait and we had the whole thing catered this year.  Chaffing dishes, hot appetizers, staff, a bar tender, and even a valet!  I was working on the meat most of the day.  I smoked a pork shoulder, we roasted a turkey, and just to top things off right did a whole ham too.  The usual suspects were all here – card game buddies, folks from school, work, the Beverly’s (longest running M&M attendees in Kuwait), and pretty much everyone else we knew in Kuwait.

Paula ran the events for the kids – river dancing, a PG version of spin the bottle, and all sorts of other fun stuff.  Bill and I bottled up a whole slew of Lockridge Estates wines yesterday so there was plenty to drink and with one of his guys behind the bar I didn’t have to serve drinks all night – awesome!  It’s technically an open house sort of thing – a come when you can, leave when you need to type event so folks were coming and going throughout the evening.  Even so, there was plenty of mingling, lots of good food, even some singing!  To wrap everything up we had a great round of Dirty Santa.  The Dirty Santa game was advertised as adults only but in the end the kids were helping out too.  Scott even ended up stealing his remote control helicopter back from Pam & Jazz’s boys!

Thank you everyone who made it this year, having an extended family over here at Christmas time makes things a lot more bearable.  We hope everyone had a great time and until next year – a Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
