How lucky we are to have had friends so hard to say goodbye to.

Bye Y'all!

Well my friends, I would assume that by the time you see this you’ll be back on US soil (God Bless America!) but I wanted to say this tonight since we just had to say good bye.  We will miss you all.  You have been and always will be – our friends (it’s a Star Trek quote, I know, but it felt appropriate – sans the Spock dieing part of course).  Kuwait will be that much smaller now that you are gone and while we really do understand that this is just the way it is we still don’t have to like it.  I have honestly not laughed as hard in years as I have when we were hanging out.  From floatsome SBs to Santa packing heat to Majorisms – y’all some funny folks.  But you’ve also been amazingly great friends while you’ve been here and have really made the last two years in Kuwait seem much more like being at home – well you know what I mean.  I’ve obviously been rambling here for a bit hoping that something poetic would come out but the only thing that comes to mind right now is something that while not being groin-grabbingly sorrowful still manages to fit us fairly well I think.  In the words of Robert Southey (a 19th Century Romantic poet – one of the Lake Poets – and the only reason I know this is my junior year Lit teacher was also my coach so I had to pay attention), ahem, “No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other’s worth.”  Have no doubts – we know what we’ll be missing.  Until next time…

Your Friends,

The G’s
