Christmas in Kuwait 2016 – Day 13

Tidings of Comfort And Joy

Merry Christmas faithful readers!  Today’s treat is another little video.  Technically a commercial but we’ll overlook that again.  It’s about the Christmas truce of WWI.  There’s as much legend as there is truth surrounding this event.  However, from personal accounts documented in letters home, we know a few things for sure.  We know that soldiers of two warring nations spent Christmas eve singing Christmas carols from their respective trenches.  The next morning they bravely set down their weapons, faced their counterparts, and came together in the spirit of Christmas.  The letters suggest that this occurred over only a small portion of the front.  Even still, for these young men to put a stop to a war, greet each other, exchange gifts, and even play soccer together – that was nothing short of a Christmas miracle.  So today, enjoy a little reenactment of the 1914 Christmas truce and look for a miracle of your own.  Merry Christmas y’all!
