Boo! Halloween Decorations are going up…

Despite a rather nasty bout with the Kuwaiti Crud over the last week we’ve managed to get Halloween down from storage and up and running around the house.  The house is still in a state of flux as a lot of the furniture is still not here but not a bad job all around if we do say so ourselves.  Creepy pictures below!

Bathroom corner – sign says ‘caution – laboratory in use’… fitting…
Jack-o-lantern jars we made a few years back…
Frank’s corner…
Daddy long legs and some little creepy crawlies…
Sydney art in the kitchen… may need to get some new this year – these are getting fairly dated…
More Sydney art in the kitchen…
Who couldn’t use a heaping bowl of bones?
Spider web in the window…
Spider web window at night… spoooooky…
More creepy crawlies and other assorted goodies…
Front hall goody table…
Creepy crystal ball head with flaming pots!
Bats and hats…
The cauldron we made a few years ago. Anita calls this our sorcery window – no magic tho – its all technology… of course the smoking cauldron is really cool in person…
Frank kicking back…
I have bats in my belfry…
Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door —
Long shot across the dinning room table…
Goody bowl on the table…

  1. Hello, I stumbled across your blog, while trying to find where I could buy some decent Halloween decor for a party I volunteered to decorate for. I wanted to ask did you get your decorations here in Kuwait or have them shipped from the states? Awesome job on decorating too!

  2. Hi there and thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately after almost nine years of living here it is overwhelmingly evident that there will never be any decent Halloween decor in Kuwait. 90% of what we’ve got around the house has all been shipped in from the States – mostly from Amazon.com, grandinroad.com, and frontgate.com. We have some bats that are hanging up around that are from Ikea and over the last few years Pottery Barn & PBK have brought in some nice things but nothing too significant and for both those stores its much better to wait until around Christmas time so that the Halloween stuff is 50-75% off. Party City also has a limited selection but their stuff is the lowest quality stuff imaginable – stuff that even Oriental Trading Company wouldn’t push. The Sultan Center used to have a selection of candy and an occasional decoration but I think since Halloween is so close to Eid this year and that the crazies have been going on so much about ‘sorcery and witchcraft’ that they’ve not restocked this year – or it could just be that they have no idea how to run a retail supply chain and their Halloween stuff will show up in December. Probably not exactly what you were looking to hear but that’s been our experience with Halloween in Kuwait.
